BAHAWALPUR: The assistant commissioners of Bahawalpur district’s five tehsils have been directed to take suitable security measures for Muharram.

Bahawalpur DCO Dr Ehtisham Anwar Mahar ordered this while presiding over a meeting of District Peace Committee at Circuit House Bahawalpur on Friday.

Mahar also directed cable operators to adhere to the code of conduct to ensure religious harmony during Muharram. The DCO urged all stakeholders to play a constructive and positive role to promote religious tolerance and interfaith harmony.

“Interfaith harmony is vital to establish a tolerant, peaceful and progressive [society] which is vital to ensure peace and harmony in the country,” the DCO told participants.
