A notification issued by ICT Registration Authority on Wednesday stated NGOs have been directed to submit their annual audit and progress reports, their local and/or foreign sources of funding as well as the details of bank accounts.
Details of NGOs’ administrative expenditure, and their latest addresses, phone numbers and websites have also been sought by
the ICTA.
The authority has also directed all NGOs to arrange a special audit of their organisations by a credible audit firm since they were registered.
“In case of non-compliance, it shall be presumed that you have failed to comply with the provisions of law and your registration shall be cancelled without any further notice.
This may be treated as a final notice,” the notification reads.
The authorities are carrying out special inspections of all NGOs and INGOs under the directives of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
On September 19, the authority cancelled registration of 121 agencies after they were found lacking in the requirements.
A total of 1,427 social welfare agencies are registered with the ICT registration authority.
ICT Chairperson Commissioner Zulfiqar Haider has directed the authority to complete the inspection within three months.
All voluntary social welfare agencies are required to submit these details to the registration authorities under the Voluntary
Social Welfare Agencies Ordinance 1961.
