RAWALPINDI: Encroachments in several city and cantonment areas of Rawalpindi including Gawalmandi, Aahata Mithu Khan and Saddar are on the rise.

Encroachments in various areas of the RCB including Saddar Bazaar, Tench Bhatta, People’s Colony, Chungi No 22, Dhoke Syedan Chowk and other areas have become a source of nuisance not only for motorists and pedestrians but also for the residents.

Traffic jams in these areas have become routine matter due to encroachments.

The residents of these areas said that encroachers have intruded almost all major and link roads.

Altaf, a resident of Gawalmandi, said that motor workshops on both sides of the road have left little space for pedestrians and motorists, resulting in regular traffic gridlocks.

The residents of Aahata Mithu Khan, Adamjee Road, Ratta Road, Transit Camp and other areas also face difficulties due to auto-workshops, which have encroached upon most footpaths and roads.

People park their vehicles on the roads outside these auto-workshops, which cause disruption in the smooth flow of traffic.
