Chandio was addressing a press conference along with Senator Saeed Ghani at PPP's media cell on Sunday, where he said that the party has not ignored any of the cities including Karachi.
"The party's recent victory at Malir-based PS-127 constituency is evidence of the PPP's vote bank in the city," he said, adding that Karachi is still the stronghold of the party.
According to him, they are currently focusing on party structure and the people of Karachi will soon witness a different PPP with youth leading it from the front and increased public interaction. We have always been in favour of Pakistan and democracy and do not consider anyone our enemy, he said, adding that the sovereignty of the country is important for them.
Pointing out the hardships faced by his party, Chandio said that PPP and its workers have faced many hardships in the past and severe criticism in the era of former military dictator General Ziaul Haq. He added that the party endured everything patiently for the sake of democracy. He said that those talking about the popularity of PPP will soon come to know about its strength in the country.
Senator Saeed Ghani said that it is a wrong perception that the party does not consider Karachi a priority. "We are aware of the problems of the city while CM Murad Ali Shah has also announced various schemes worth Rs10 billion for the city," he said. He added that issues such as solid waste management and water shortage need to be addressed in the city.
According to him, PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has also directed the chief minister to ensure cleanliness in the city along with supply of hygienic water to the citizens.
