PESHAWAR: At least one individual has been arrested on charges of corruption by the National Accountability Bureau (Nab) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. A handout issued on Thursday stated that Alamgir was involved in corrupt practices during the acquisition of 400 kanals land for the Workers Welfare Board (WWB) in Daag Ismail Khel, Nowshera. The handout added that Alamgir’s action caused losses of more than Rs148.6 million to the national exchequer.

The accused manoeuvred the acquisition process of land to gain rewards, NAB claimed. As a result, Alamgir facilitated and abetted corruption and corrupt practices.

WWB acquired land measuring 400 kanals for the construction of a labour complex in Nowshehra. Alamgir connived with other co-accused and entered mutations at overpriced rates. This resulted in the increase of the average price of land. The suspect will be presented before an accountability court to obtain his physical custody. Further investigation is also under way.
