SUKKUR: The federal government is not paying attention towards the problems of the people, said leader of the opposition in National Assembly, Khursheed Ahmed Shah.

"Why should I write a letter to [the] prime minister and remind him to come to the parliament?" he asked while addressing the media after a visit to Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) in Sukkur on Thursday. He added that the prime minister should remember that this is the same parliament that rescued him when he was facing problems.

Criticising the federal government, he questioned what it has done in the health sector. He added that people can only enjoy the benefits of metro bus and Orange Line train if they are alive.

The rising population is the biggest problem of the country, he remarked. The parliament is only a decision-making forum and the government is bound to implement its decisions. However, the government has failed to implement many decisions of the parliament, he lamented.

"I am praying for the success of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Imran Khan and Shaikh Rasheed Ahmed's Raiwind march," he said, adding that Dr Tahirul Qadri has already left for London. However, he made it clear that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) neither believes in desecrating the sanctity of 'chador' and 'chaar deewari [four walls]' nor will it attack anyone's house.

He stated that the PPP will start a coordination campaign in Punjab, as decided during a meeting with party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
