BANNU: The displaced families of North Waziristan have criticised the federal and provincial governments over the failure to provide them aid. The IDP also flayed the Centre and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led administration for not allowing them to take the sacrificial animals to their native land.

These reservations were brought to the fore during a protest held in Bannu on Sunday.

The demonstration was presided over by young people and IDP representatives from Waziristan. Hanif Dawar, a member of a complaint cell for internally displaced persons in Bannu, was also present on the occasion.

Addressing participants, Dawar said IDPs lack basic facilities as the government had failed to provide them relief. He also complained against the ban imposed by the district and political administration over taking sacrificial animals to North Waziristan.

“[IDPs] will not celebrate Eidul Azha if they do not take sacrificial animals along with them to North Waziristan,” Dawar added.

He urged the provincial and federal governments to facilitate the displaced families. He warned that they will take to the streets across the district if the government does not fulfil their demands.
