LAHORE:
The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has demanded that the government ensure that strict punishments are meted out to people involved in ‘honour killings’.  The demand was made on Thursday through a resolution submitted to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat by PTI’s Sibtain Khan.  The resolution says there has been an “alarming increase” in ‘honour killings’ over the last five years. It says that 1,850 people have been killed in the name of honour. It says the government should bring legislation carrying a harsh punishment for those guilty of such killings.  Another resolution urged the government to ensure better facilities at public hospitals. The resolution submitted by Khan says the government frequently announces new health facilities, but it does not improve the existing health infrastructure.
