Official caught taking bribe

LAHORE: The Okara Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has arrested an official in charge of the Mohafiz Khana at Okara DCO’s office for taking a bribe from a peasant who had asked for copies of state land records. Nazir Ansari, a peasant, had filed a complaint to the ACE Sahiwal regional director against the official. The regional director had directed the deputy director to take action. Okara Circle Officer Ghaffar Khan and Judicial Magistrate Tariq Mehmood had then conducted a raid and caught Amir Ali, in charge of the Mohafiz Khana at Okara DCO’s office, while he was taking Rs3,000 as a bribe from the complainant.  The circle officer had recovered the amount and sent the suspect to jail on judicial remand.
