MULTAN:
The government will provide 2,500 motorcycles to agriculture field assistants, said Punjab Minister for Agriculture Dr Farrukh Javed, while paying visits to different cotton fields in suburban areas of Multan. The provision of motorcycles would allow the field assistants easy access to peasants, said the minister, adding they would inspect crops and put forward useful suggestions. Javed maintained that the government had brought down prices of different inputs, especially fertilisers and pesticides. Similarly, effective monitoring was also being done for the supply of pure pesticides. “Government is taking strict action against sellers of substandard fertilisers or pesticides,” he added. About Rs450 million was also being spent on improvement in irrigation system, which would bring remarkable growth in the agriculture sector, he claimed.
