Security operation: 11 militants killed in Swat

The insurgents were trying to infiltrate Swat-Dir border.

Security forces gunned down 11 militants in two separate incidents near the Swat-Dir border, here on Friday, reported the Swat Media Centre.

Security forces traced the militants trying to infiltrate the area and opened fire at them, killing them on the spot. Six of the bodies were sent to the Civil Hospital in the Malakand Agency while five of them were taken to the Kabal police station for identification. However, only three of the bodies were identified, while the rest were handed over to the Mingora Municipal Administration for burial.

The three were identified as as Mian Gul Zada and Ijazudin, both residents of Barikot, while the third was identified as a resident of Palai, Malakand Agency.

“Peace is stable in Swat after the Army operation. Check posts have also been removed, while the army is also carrying out reconstruction and rehabilitation in the area. Local people are assisting security forces for maintaining peace,” said Colonel Arif, the spokesman for the Swat Media Centre.

In a related development, security forces launched a search operation in some parts of Kabal tehsil after imposing a curfew, capturing six suspected militants, including a suicide bomber.
