Crackdown: Several food outlets in City sealed, fined

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Monday sealed several food businesses and imposed fine on others during a crackdown on adulterated and sub-standard food products.

PFA’s Gulberg Town team again sealed Golden Restaurant and Milk Shop on finding it open although the authority had closed it earlier for violating food regulations. Its management was fined and an FIR was registered against it.

The Ravi Town team sealed Pak Noor Water Filter, VIP Mineral Water, Super Hygienic Water Filter and Subhan Water Filter in Shahdara for selling sub-standard water.

The Samanabad Town team again sealed Shakeel Catering in Sabzi Mandi area and Mama Sweets on Wahdat Road for illegally opening their businesses. The owners and workers at these outlets were arrested and FIRs were registered against their management.

Aziz Bhatti and Wagha Town teams sealed Shahzad Milk Shop on Canal Road and Abdullah Milk Shop in Amir Town over poor cleanliness arrangements and operating without licences. PFA Data Ganj Baksh Town and Shalimar Town food safety officers sealed Amjad Cold Corner and Speed Cold Corner on Jail Road for operating without licences.

The Shalimar Town team sealed the production unit of Moon Shinwari on non-traceability of raw materials. Cleanliness arrangements were also found poor. Workers at the outlet could not produce fitness certificates.

The Nishtar Town team fined Bismillah Hotel and Milk Shop in Green Town over poor hygiene. Ethical Foods was also fined for the similar offence.
