Recognition: IGP awards police for cracking murder, robbery cases

Suspects jailed, weapons  seized in Peshawar, Abbottabad

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa IGP Nasir Khan Durrani awarded Peshawar and Abbottabad police officials on cracking murder and robbery cases during a ceremony held at city police office on Monday.

Probing matters

An unidentified body was found in a field in Landi Akhun Ahmad, Pishtakhara a few days ago.

The local police took keen interest in tracing the case. Investigation was carried out and suspects were arrested. The weapon used in crime was seized from them. During the course of interrogation, both the accused confessed to the crime in the court.

Similarly, in Abbottabad two robberies took place when men in police uniforms looted people. Several cases of thefts, particularly those of cash and mobile phones, on the road leading towards Thandiani, were reported.

A team under the supervision of Mirpur SDPO Amjad Hussain was constituted to investigate the matter. At least five suspects were identified and three of them were arrested. An MP-5 gun with two loaded magazines, 50 cartridges, several stolen mobile phones and police uniforms were confiscated.

The IGP awarded Pishtakhara SHO Umar Afridi, investigation incharge Gul Wali, investigation officer Ali Akbar, ASI Imranullah, constable Farman, Mirpur SDPO Amjad Hussain, Nawanshehr investigation officer Matloob Khan, sub-inspector Shehryar Khan, investigation officer Niaz Akhtar, ASI Gulwaiz and head constable Afsar Khan with cash prizes and commendation certificates.
