KARACHI: Pakistan had its first-ever online music and shopping festival on August 14. It was the brainchild of Pakistani celebrity and owner of online retail store EzDaam.com, Fakhr-e-Alam.

A resident of Dubai for nine years, Alam plans on bringing EzDaam.com to United Arab Emirates by the third quarter of 2017.

The first-of-its-kind festival had the highest online event participation in Pakistan’s internet history.

People logged into Greenday.pk and went straight into a live music concert featuring some of the biggest music, TV and film stars of the country. Each user had to see the concert for 15 minutes before the shopping discount deals could be unlocked. This was a 3-hour show.

The project was a joint venture of EzDaam.com and Taazi, Pakistan’s most downloaded music app founded by another celebrity Haroon Rashid. McDonald’s Pakistan was a digital partner of the GreenDay Festival.

The live, unplugged performances were live-streamed from a secret location in Karachi. Oldies Aamir Saleem and Nadeem Jafri rendered their pop hits while Saleem Javed unveiled his newest single done with legendary guitarist Amir Zaki.

Nouman Javaid belted out a host of Bollywood hits in his sweet, yet powerful voice. Abbas Ali Khan mesmerised with his soulful hits from Coke Studio. Fuzon were the stars of the night, putting together an entertaining and unique unplugged performance. Alam, along with Rashid, promises to bring a bigger and better event next year.
