Targeted killings: Two seminary teachers gunned down
Man belonging to Shia community also shot dead
KARACHI:
Three people including two seminary teachers were gunned down in separate acts of targeted killings in District East on Tuesday.
The two seminary teachers were shot and injured while they were sitting inside their office located at a seminary in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 6.
They were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where they succumbed to their wounds. The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Mufti Ghulam Akbar and 45-year-old Mufti Kamran.
The victim's relatives, colleagues and supporters of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) also reached the hospital after getting the news and protested the killings. The victims were the local leaders of ASWJ, informed the police. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.
An extra contingent of law enforcers dispersed the protesters after assuring them of their complete cooperation.
Meanwhile, a man belonging to the Shia community was shot dead in an act of targeted killing in Korangi. The deceased was identified as Qasim Abbas Raza, 34.
The victim was on his way to a factory, where he used to work, when unidentified armed motorcyclists shot him near the Sughra Imambargah, said the police.
