Unregistered blood banks

Medical equipment is also required to be registered with the Drug Regulation Authority Pakistan’s Technical Board

Letter August 25, 2016

LAHORE: The news that over 70 per cent of blood banks in Punjab are operating without registration and pathologists is really alarming and shows negligence on the part of the authorities concerned. As per the law, registration is mandatory for any blood bank or lab.

Medical equipment is also required to be registered with the Drug Regulation Authority Pakistan’s Technical Board; however, many medical establishments appear to be operating without getting their equipment registered. Since the healthcare of citizens should be among the top priorities of any government, it is hoped that the chief minister of Punjab will take notice of this at the earliest so that matters of health are given due attention.
