SHABQADAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has decided to end its coalition with Awami National Party (ANP) in Charsadda. This was announced at a meeting held at JUI-F’s Charsadda headquarters in Darul Adab. The district councillors and other party members were present on the occasion.

While addressing the meeting, JUI-F’s Ameer Hashim said PTI passed the annual budget in the district assembly thanks to the support of an ANP member. After our protest over the matter, opposition leader Qasim Ali Khan did not take any action against the said member.

Hashim maintained JUI-F always supported ANP in the district assembly, but the sentiment was not reciprocated. He said if the situation was reversed and JUI-F had made such a move, ANP would have been propagating against them. He said his party was disappointed in ANP’s leadership, which is why it decided to end the coalition.

When contacted, Qasim Ali told The Express Tribune he scheduled a meeting with JUI-F. He hoped to discuss and resolve the issue with JUI-F’s leader in Charsadda and continue the coalition.

Currently, JUI-F and ANP have a coalition in Charsadda and Mardan’s district governments. In the scenario, ANP has the tehsil nazim seat and JUI-F has the naib nazim slot.
