ISLAMABAD: Police are yet to recover a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by three men about a week ago from the capital.

The girl*, who was around 15 or 16 years old according to the FIR, went missing from her home in Banigala on August 13-14.

Her father* later lodged a complaint with the Banigala police that his daughter had been kidnapped by three men identified as Sabir Khan, Khurshid and Farman.

Police registered a kidnapping case against the suspects under Section 365-B (kidnapping a woman in order to compel her for marriage or force her to illicit intercourse) of the Pakistan Penal Code but have not been able to trace the suspects or recover the girl till the time this report was filed on Sunday. Assistant Sub-Inspector Ijaz Ahmad, who is investigation officer for the case, said police were working to arrest the suspects.

He said the suspects hailed from Mardan in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and worked at a ceiling shop in Banigala, while the girl’s family were residents of the area.

Ahmad said the suspects had no relation to the girl’s family. “We are investigating it and will hopefully solve the case in a few days,” said the investigation officer.
