SUKKUR: Taking notice of reports of increasing deaths of newborns at Civil Hospital, Sukkur, leader of opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Ahmed Shah visited the health facility on Saturday.

Shah was briefed about the matter by the hospital's medical superintendent Dr Abu Bakr Shaikh.

"Life and death is in the hands of the Almighty," remarked Shah while speaking to the media after the visit. "There might be some negligence on the part of the doctors and paramedics, but as I have been informed, the babies died as they were underweight," he said and appealed to the journalists to not create hype regarding the issue.

According to him, the hospital is also understaffed as about 800 patients are admitted even though it has only 500 beds.
