Celebrating Freedom: Azadi Train arrives in City

The train is expected to stay overnight in Sahiwal on August 21

LAHORE: The Azadi Train, which is on a month-long journey from Islamabad to Karachi via Peshawar, Lahore and Quetta, arrived at the City Railway Station on Friday. It will stay in the city until 9am on Sunday. It will then depart for Raiwind and onward to Pattoki, Okara and Sahiwal. The train is expected to stay overnight in Sahiwal on August 21. The train was warmly received in Lahore by officials, the media and the citizens of Lahore. The train is carrying decorated floats depicting the cultures of the Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Jammu and Kashmir. The air-conditioned coaches have six galleries with displays regarding the Pakistan Movement, sacrifices rendered by the armed forces and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects.
