Charsadda twin blasts: Suspected facilitator held

Bulldozer driver who demolished shops on main Mardan Road held

SHABQADAR: The counter-terrorism department (CTD) police arrested a suspected facilitator of the Charsadda bomb blast on Thursday.

According to a press release issued to the media by CTD Mardan, Behram Khan, a resident of Bakshi Pull in Peshawar, was arrested for his involvement in the twin blasts that took place in Charsadda on August 3. The document stated Khan was shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Two remote-controlled improvised explosive devices (IED) went off in the red zone, outside Charsadda court at the police post in the morning of August 3. The explosion had claimed the lives of five town municipal authority (TMA) workers.

Later, Charsadda tehsil nazim had blamed bomb disposal unit (BDU) for negligence in the case.

Separately, the police arrested the driver of a bulldozer who had demolished three shops on main Mardan Road in Charsadda bazaar on the same day.

According to shopkeepers Noor Nabi, Ilyas and Ahmad Jan, three people identified as Yousaf, Wajid and Altaf demolished their shops over a property dispute.

The shopkeepers said instead of taking their property through legal means, Nabi, Ilyas and Jan destroyed their shops on the main road with the help of the police.
