KARACHI:
Two employees of Dawn News channel sustained bullet wounds when their van came under attack in District Malir of Karachi in the late hours of Wednesday.

According to police, at least two armed assailants, riding a motorbike, opened fire on the media group’s vehicle near DC office in the Quaidabad neighbourhood.

As a result of the firing, the driver and a transport supervisor – identified as Hakim Khan and Yousuf Jan – got injured. The victims were later shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical treatment.


Extra contingent of law enforcers reached the site and inquired about the incident. Sindh IGP Allah Dino Khowaja also took notice of the incident and ordered Zone East DIG Dr Kamran Fazal to investigate the case from all angles.

Earlier, a DSNG van of Dawn News was also targeted in Essa Nagri area that falls within the same zone. Three employees of The Express Media Group also lost their lives when their DSNG van came under attack in the city’s Nazimabad area in January 2014.
