Students contribute to ensure road safety

The contest was arranged by the Islamabad Traffic Police.

ISLAMABAD: Celebrating its fifth anniversary, Atlas Honda on Wednesday held a declamation contest on “Role of students in checking road accidents”.

The contest was arranged by the Islamabad Traffic Police at its office here, along with a prize distribution ceremony to award winning students. Students of various educational institutions from twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi came up with innovative ideas to maintain traffic discipline in the city and ensure road safety to avoid fatal accidents.

Qasim Idress from Arid Agriculture University was awarded first position while Zohaib Chan from Commerce College H-8/4 Islamabad, Javeria Mughal from IMCCW F-10/3 and Ameena Firdous from Arid Agriculture University obtained second , third and fourth positions respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, Inspector General of Police (IG) Wajid Khan Durrani said that ITP has succeeded in ensuring safe road environment in the city within a very short span of time. He said that effective measures have been taken to curb carjacking from the city.
