
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Headquarters DSP Shamraiz Khan said the rape survivor was a student of class nine.
“She went to her institute to attend an Independence Day function,” he said. “The girl was on her way back home in a yellow cab with her friend when the vehicle broke down near a lorry stop.”
Minor girl gang-raped in Karachi
Her friend left for her house, the girl was left alone. The student started walking as it was getting dark. According to her statement, she requested another taxi driver to drop her home. However, the driver took the girl to the office of a cable operator near Thakra cricket stadium.
There, Basharat, Bilal, son of Ghulam Sarwar, and Rizwan raped her. Later, at around 3am on Tuesday, they dropped her near the lorry stand.
“A police party found the student and took her to City police station where a complaint was registered,” the DSP said.
He added a medical examination was carried out at King Abdullah Teaching Hospital Mansehra where it was confirmed the girl was gang-raped.
Girl gang-raped
The DSP said the three principal suspects had been arrested and criminal cases were registered against them under various sections of Pakistan Penal Code. He said they would be produced before a court to obtain physical remand on Wednesday (today).
In February, a teenage girl was gang-raped in the limits of Motiyan village council, police told The Express Tribune. According to investigating officer, Sub-inspector Syed Shabir Shah, the medical examination of the victim confirmed she had been gang-raped. Law-enforcement officers have picked up three of the four suspects.
Kotnajibullah police quoted 19-year-old Atika*, a resident of Hasan Abdal in Attock, as saying she was waiting for her bus at Mohra Chowk Monday afternoon on her way home. A van stopped near her and the driver asked her to board the vehicle and join “the rest of the passengers”.
