Pakistan veteran middle-order batsman Younus Khan has returned to the top five in the ICC Player Rankings for Test Batsmen after smashing his sixth career double-century, which helped his side to record an impressive 10-wicket victory over England in the fourth and final Test of the series at The Oval.

Younus, who was 11th before the start of the last Test, scored a mammoth 218 in the first innings at The Oval to climbed six spots to the fifth position.

The 38-year-old started the series in the fifth position, but was dropped out of the top 10 following poor batting performances in the first three matches of the series.

Lesson to learn from Wahab’s cricket career

Pace bowling pair of Wahab Riaz and Sohail Khan have also improved their ranking.

Left-armer Wahab has gained six slots to reach 27th after grabbing five wickets at The Oval, while Sohail’s six wickets during that Test has seen him jump 21 places to 41st rank.

ZAIDI, IQBAL HADI | 8 years ago | Reply In the name of Allah, I very humbly BEG, repeat BEG, not just request PM Nawaz that he should instruct Pakistan Cricket Board to select Younus to play in forthcoming series against West Indies, Australia and New Zealand so that he not only reaches 10, 000 runs in tests but scores much more than that which will be a record for Pakistan in any case. Incidentally, he has scored much more runs which none of our great batsmen could score which itself proves that he is really truly meritorious. He who has really toiled very hard for so many years and playing against all test nations rightly deserves that he be continually patronized and not ignored whatsoever. I have never ever seen him so he is an unknown person to me hence there is no affinity between us two whatsoever except that we both are Pakistanis. I want to compose a befitting poem on his achievement and hence I very solemnly request for his email contact to send him my poem in English, ehsan hoga.
