Ryan Lochte, the Olympic gold-winning swimmer, was allegedly held up at gunpoint during a party in Rio de Janeiro.

Fortunately, Lochte was not harmed and is now safe at the team USA base, The Independent reported.

The swimmer called his mother to update her about the incident who described the episode as terrifying.

What are those circular marks on Michael Phelps’ body?

Reports suggested Lochte was invited to a party by Brazilian swimmer Thiago Pereira along with three other American team members when he was held at gunpoint.

He recently won the gold on Wednesday in men’s 4x200 freestyle relay.

The swimmer posted his pictures on Twitter after the win, calling it ‘an amazing night’.

"Four Olympics straight we've won this relay.  So humbled to be part of this movement," he wrote.
