Privatisation of ‘precious assets’ opposed

ISLAMABAD: Head of Infrastructure Project Development Facility (IPDF), Ghulam Murtaza Satti has called for doing away with the practice of privatisation of state-owned assets.

He said, in a statement on Tuesday, that state-owned entities were being sold out at throwaway prices in utter disregard to the interest and aspirations of the people. “Selling these precious assets at negligible prices is an act of excess being committee  towards the people and we should join hands to stop this ill-conceived privatisation of valuable state units,” he added.

Satti said leading international economists had publicly decried the concept of privatisation.

feroze | 13 years ago | Reply What precious assets? Name me one state owned entity barring OGDCL that is profitable and can be considered a precious asset. Who is this guy? I as a tax paying citizen of this country am sick of seeing my hard earned money going to prop up these entities that are loosing Billions of Rupees every year. Privatize every one of them that's a loss making unit. Sad part though is that there will be no buyers soon looking at where we are heading as a country!!!
