Quetta carnage: ‘India has mounted an unconventional war'

Commander, Southern Command says neighbouring state wants to spread chaos

QUETTA: Head of Southern Command Lt. Gen Aamer Riaz on Friday claimed that the neighbouring country has launched an unconventional war on Pakistan.

“The arrest of Kulbhushan Yadav, a RAW agent, from Balochistan is an indication that India has mounted an unconventional war on us,” he stated while talking to the media at Quetta Press Club.

In March 2016, the Balochistan government had disclosed the arrest of Yadav, an Indian navy officer who confessed to working for India’s premier intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing, to carry out subversive activities in Balochistan and Karachi.

“India wants to spread chaos and anarchy in Pakistan,” he claimed.

Lt-Gen Riaz said that some elements did not want Balochistan to progress. “Conspiracies are being hatched against Pakistan and foreign elements are aiding local militants to fuel unrest in the country,” he added.

He assured that the army will make all-out efforts to assist the families of those who lost their lives in the Quetta carnage.

“No relaxation will be given to enemies working against the state whether inside or outside the country,” he added.

He stated that the attack on lawyers and journalists at the Civil hospital in Quetta has harmed Pakistan the most.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, on a similar note, said that with the civil-military leadership on the same page malicious plans of the enemy will be thwarted.

Expressing his views while addressing a match of Jinnah Shooting Competition, Zehri said that both internal and external attempts at interference will be foiled with the military and civil leadership unity.

This incident is the culmination of the path taken by Pakistan decades ago and now it is reaping results. After gaining independence, when it was time to build a great nation, Pakistan indulged in unnecessary wars. When it was time to stand up on its own feet and be self reliant, it leaned on USA for money. When it was time to become a just and secular nation as Mr. Jinnah envisioned, Pakistan adopted Islamic ideologies which crushed its minorities and free speech and created a security state. When it was time to open trade routes with India and bring prosperity for people, they went on to start four loosing wars with India and thus creating an enemy which was and is far stronger and powerful than them. When it was time to focus on unifying the country and focus on internal issues, Pakistan indulged in unnecessary wars for money and weapons (Afghan war against USSR for USA), thus creating the Taliban and giving them safe havens in Pakistan so they could be used against India and Afghanistan. Now that all these home grown terror groups are working to take control of Pakistan and inflict pain, Pakistan starts to blame India. Hypocrisy at its best!!! It’s so sad to see how far apart Pakistan has come from India even though they both got independence a day apart after so much of unified struggle against the tyranny of the British. Pakistan has now come too far the path it chose to do much, but point fingers and hope for a better tomorrow. May God grant them some sense and peace…
