Foreign assistance: TEVTA gets machinery for garments centre

Sheikh said that training of TEVTA trainers would achieve the chief minister’s vision for improve the garments sector

LAHORE: The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has provided machinery and equipment worth Rs110 million for the establishment of a garments centre at Government Institute of Emerging Technologies, said a press release on Friday. It said experts from the TIKA would organise a two-month training at the centre.  The decision was announced by TEVTA chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh in a meeting with an eight-member TIKA delegation.

Sheikh said that training of TEVTA trainers would help achieve the chief minister’s vision for strengthening the garments sector. He said the graduates of the garments centre would be placed with reputed local and international firms.  Turkish delegation head Hulya Kirmizigul said that 11 TEVTA trainers had completed a 15-day skills training in Turkey. She said the training had been organised with support from leading industries in Istanbul and Tekirda.
