105 villages inundated due to River Chenab flood

He said a 55-year-old resident of Kot Khaira had been moved to a hospital after he was bitten by a snake

FAISALABAD: As many as 105 villages near Jhang were inundated due to a flood in River Chenab on Friday.

A spokesman of the district administration told The Express Tribune the flood had affected villages around Jhang.

He said traffic on Sargodha Road was being diverted as floodwater was touching the road at three sections. “In Athara Hazari, crops and houses have been affected in 53 villages,” he said. He said the flood was approaching Shorkot and Ahmedpur Sial.

Further, District Emergency Officer Tariq Saeed said high flood had been recorded at Trimmu Headworks.

“Rescue 1122 teams have been dispatched to evacuate the affected villages,” he added. He said the teams were also providing emergency medical care to the affected villagers. He said a 55-year-old resident of Kot Khaira had been moved to a hospital after he was bitten by a snake.
