Celebrating independence: Poster show opens at Faisalabad Arts Council

The art is themed around the Independence Movement and patriotism

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Arts Council and Sanatzar, a training centre of the Social Welfare Department, kicked off a two-day exhibition themed in connection with Independence Day on Wednesday. The exhibition has been organised at the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Art Gallery.

DCO Salman Ghani inaugurated the poster exhibition. Sanatzar Advisory Committee Chairperson MPA Madiha Rana, Arts Council Director Tariq Javed, Social Welfare District Officer Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, GC University Fine Arts Department In charge Tehmina Afzal and Sanatzar Manager Muhammad Saleem Bulandya were present.

As many as 70 artworks have been displayed in the exhibition. The paintings and posters deal with topics of independence and patriotism. They were made by 25 girls enrolled in a six-month fine arts course at Sanatzar.

The DCO appreciated the technique and skill used in making the paintings and lauded the students. “They depict the love these students have for their homeland.”

Ghani said art was the best form of expression one could use to depict their love for the homeland. “The artists, whose work has been displayed at the gallery, have highlighted various aspects of the Independence Movement…it gives a message of hope.”

He thanked the Faisalabad Arts Council and Sanatzar for arranging the poster exhibition.

MPA Madiha Rana thanked the DCO for inaugurating the exhibition. She said several vocational training courses were underway at the Sanatnazar training centre. The course on fine arts has been a raging success. “The students, whose work has been displayed, have studied fine arts only for two months…yet their work reflects finesse and is memorable.”

She congratulated the students for putting together the 70 paintings. Several visitors at the exhibition paid the art students compliments on their work.
