ATC reserves ruling on Rashid's plea

A Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday reserved its verdict on an application filed by former interior minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed seeking permission to travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. The court will announce its decision on June 16.
Meanwhile, the court formally admitted for hearing applications filed by former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry seeking acquittal, for lack of evidence, in the GHQ attack case and 11 other cases relating to the events of May 9. Notices were issued to the prosecution, which had been directed to submit its response and complete record on June 16.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court reserved its verdict, which is scheduled to be announced on 16 June.
