Items recovered: Robbers held ‘for looting houses’

The four persons arrested used to operate in guise of domestic servants

ISLAMABAD: Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad Police has arrested four members of a gang for their alleged involvement in looting houses after getting jobs there as domestic servants, and also recovered looted items from their possession, police said.

The gangsters including two men and two women used to get jobs in houses as domestic servants and then loot them. The arrested persons have been identified as Ijaz alias Sattar, Yousaf, and Shehnaz, residents of Chak No 101 Chiniott District; and Kausar resident of Chak No 50 Sargodha District.

Police team also recovered 22 tola (or 275 grams) of gold jewellery, and a Mehran car from those arrested.

One of the arrested men is a court absconder, while the other is a proclaimed offender in various cases.

During preliminary investigation, the four persons allegedly confessed to involvement in multiple cases of theft.

On November 16, 2007, they burgled the house of Saima Javed wife of Javed Rehman resident of House No 10 Sawan Road G-11/3 following which a case was registered at the Women Police Station.

Similarly, the gangsters on March 4, 2014, robbed the house of Khushnuda Zuhara resident of House No 20 Street 148 Sector G-13/4 and an FIR under section 381/34 PPC was registered at the Women Police Station.

The arrested persons also confessed to involvement in such cases in various other districts including Faisalabad and Lahore.
