Fourth in a row: Cardboard factory gutted in fire

KARACHI: A cardboard factory was gutted in an inferno in Azizabad locality on Tuesday.

The fire erupted at the cardboard factory, Atif Packages, located at Bangoria Goth in Azizabad neighbourhood.

Reacting on information, fire tenders reached the site and firefighters participated in the extinguishing work. The fire brigade spokesperson said that at least nine fire tenders were rushed to the site, however, firefighters faced difficulties in extinguishing the blaze due to the narrow streets.

The firefighters, however, were able to put the blazes down with hectic efforts spanning at least four hours. A fire brigade spokesperson said no loss of life was reported while the cause of the inferno has yet to be ascertained. This was the fourth major fire to have erupted in the current week as earlier the Cooperative Market in Saddar, Gold Mark Shopping Mall on Korangi Road and Gul Plaza on MA Jinnah Road all caught fire causing damages worth millions of rupees.
