KARACHI: Provincial education minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has ordered the reopening of all schools which have been closed in Mirpurkhas division.

Dahar has taken notice of the closure of 700 government schools, conflicts on the appointment of a headmistress in Larkana, use of low quality material in the construction of classrooms in a village and the academic activities in schools, according to a government notification.

“None of the students will suffer and we will not let their academic year go to waste,” he said. He has ordered the education directors to submit a report to education secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah on the matter.

In the statement, Dahar said that the closure of schools in Mirpurkhas is affecting thousands of children and depriving them of their right to education. The education minister has ordered the reopening of all the schools as early as possible.

Meanwhile, he has also asked Larkana education director Razia Pathan to resolve the matter of the appointment of the headmistress at Government Girls High Secondary School in Larkana so that the educational activities of the students will not be affected.

The minister has also asked the education works engineer to submit a report on a complaint of the use of low-quality material in the construction of classrooms in Government Higher Secondary School at Padidan in Naushero Feroz district. Dahar has directed the education secretary to look into the matter as well.
