PM directs timely completion of power projects
Premier will perform onsite visits of all ongoing projects
ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed timely completion of different ongoing power projects across the country and said he would personally monitor the progress on a fortnightly basis. He will perform onsite visits of power projects to ensure they are completed on time.
Chairing a meeting on energy at the PM House, Sharif said that significant addition of power to the national grid with the completion of ongoing projects will eliminate load shedding in Pakistan.

He said increased power generation would also contribute towards economic growth through increased industrial activity.
Federal Secretary Water and Power informed the meeting that the year 2016 remained most stable as well as the best period for power generation during the last ten years. The prime minister was briefed about the timeline of different power projects to be completed between mid of 2017 and March of 2018.
The projects that would be completed between the given timeline will include; conversion of Guddu Power and Nandipur Power plants on gas, three LNG power plants in Punjab, Sahiwal Coal Power Plant (1350MW), Port Qasim Power Plant (1320 MW), two nuclear Power Plants (650 MW), Neelum Jhelum (950 MW) and Tarbella 4 Extension (1500 MW).

The meeting was assured of active and available addition of power to the National Grid by the mid of 2018.
The meeting was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister for Water & Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif and other senior officials.
