Catch and release: Baby dolphin rescued from Salar Wah

SUKKUR: A baby dolphin was rescued from Salar Wah, Jacobabad and released on Thursday evening in the Indus River near the Dolphin Conservation Centre in Sukkur. According to the World Wildlife Fund - Pakistan’s (WWF-P) senior project officer Imran Malik, the baby dolphin was first spotted by local residents. “Today a joint team of the wildlife department and WWF-P went to the site and rescued the baby dolphin from the Salar Wah near Jacobabad,” he said. The baby dolphin was a two-year-old male, weighing around 18 kilogrammes and was three-and-half feet long, said Malik. After rescuing the mammal, it was released in the Indus River near the Dolphin Conservation Centre, Sukkur, he said.
