Animal cruelty: 800 stray dogs poisoned to death in District South

The operation was conducted in the entire District South, including Saddar and Lyari

KARACHI: In the wee hours of Thursday, District Municipal Corporation (DMC), South, poisoned a significant number of stray dogs in Karachi following reports of their rising population in the district.

According to DMC South administrator Muhammad Naeem, more than 800 stray dogs were poisoned to death. He said that he was receiving complaints from the residents regarding the rising number of dogs in the area.

The operation, according to him, was conducted in the entire District South, including Saddar and Lyari. He explained that they chose midnight of Wednesday and Thursday, as on Wednesdays meat markets are closed and dogs don’t get anything to eat.

Taking advantage of the situation, the team left pieces of poisoned meat in different streets. “We made sure that no children were nearby,” he said, adding that their team was present in the entire district to monitor the situation.

The corpses of the dogs were later shifted to landfill sites.

So they can send all stray Dogs, Cats etc to that address and then their will be no cruelty. This correspondent must pay a visit to Jinnah's Dept of Dog Bite. Then he will know how many people are suffering and even dying of Dog bites in the city.
