Khyber Teaching Hospital: Committee tasked to prepare roadmap for IBP

PESHAWAR: The administration of Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) has issued orders to constitute a committee to provide a roadmap for an institutional-based practice (IBP) at the facility. The decision was taken during a meeting of the KTH board of governors on Tuesday. The facility is likely to introduce IBP by the end of September.

An important factor which proved to be a hurdle for implementation of IBP at health facilities was that, the practice was launched without any preparation and health experts, who opted for IBP were asked to carry on with the old setup.



He added not only the number of machines but technicians also need to be increased as well so that maximum number of patients could be facilitated in minimum possible time.

A statement issued by the KTH administration read that the committee will be responsible for preparing the terms of reference and the policy for IBP; this will be done in consultation with the stakeholders. The statement added that the meeting also approved reconstitution of scrutiny committee for selection and promotions at teaching posts.

It was added that members of the meeting approved and re-constituted different committees for Intensive Care Units (ICU), Surgical, Medical, CCU and Accident and Regency Department. The board approved that 12 medical consultants should be inducted, from these four each for Medical, Surgical ICUs, CCU and eight for accident and emergency department.
