Smchs murder: Judge sends five suspects to jail

KARACHI: The anti-terrorism (ATC) courts' administrative judge sent on Saturday five suspects allegedly involved in the killing of a youth, Abrar, in Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society on the night of July 10, to jail for two weeks, seeking the charge-sheet at the next hearing.

The suspects, Mirza Dilnawaz Baig and policemen Saeed Ahmed, Rashid Ali, Nadim Khan and Kaleemullah, were presented before the administrative judge at the expiry of their second physical remand.

The investigating officer contended that the suspects' interrogation was under way and sought more time to complete it.

The judge, however, declined the police plea and remanded the suspects to prison. The judge directed the investigating officer to furnish the charge-sheet of the case at the next hearing.

Abrar was killed when police opened fire on Baig's car from which he was hanging. He and Baig had met to sell a mobile phone.
