Power crisis ends in Pakistan... temporarily

LAHORE: The power crisis temporarily came to an end across Pakistan as demand equalled supply, sources in the Ministry of Water and Power told Express on Friday.

They confirmed that demand and supply of electricity stagnated at the 12,300 megawatt level during the day. A FESCO spokesman backed up the claim, saying that there was zero shortfall in power supply.

Meanwhile, Karachi's Bin Qasim power plant also started producing an output of 260 megawatts to curb loadshedding in the city.

That's the good weather.I would like to suggest PEPCO,they should plan for future power shortfall. They can give maximum megawatts to each electric supply company and then let that company try to reduce the consumption by creating awareness among people.There will be a competition among regions and I think in this way we can get rid of electricity shortfall.People will own the problem and try to solve it.

Syed A. Mateen | 14 years ago | Reply The news is totally baseless and wrong. Just today electricity of my house went off four times during the day and the last it went off at 7pm. I have to face one hour more of load-shedding as exactly at 12:00 midnight, the power will be switched off again for one more hour. It is a routine matter for us. Despite the increase in petrol prices, people are forced to operator home generators which are additional expenses for the people who can afford to buy generators. Had this been going on in a foreign country, the government of electricity Supply Company would have reimbursed the cost of purchasing fuel to run the generators. But this is Pakistan, where no body listens to the poor people. There is no evidence of load-shedding for a single minute where Ministers and VIP lives. Poor people are born to die while facing such miseries and the rich and affluent people are born to enjoy their lives. Though majority of the voters are from poor families, but the few rich people of Pakistan are exempted from load-shedding. How could PPP think and imagine returning to power when an ordinary Pakistani citizen is not satisfied with the performance of the Government. Just today, Labour Party of UK has lost election and Conservative Party won the majority of the seats in House of Commons. Now people will see how Conservative Party Leader is going to form the government with the cooperation of Liberal Democrats and other small political parties. Similar is the fate of PPP in the next general elections. Every one from the PPP has come to go back home. How long people can bear the heat. Is there any limit or not and on the top KESC sends exorbitant amount of Electricity Bills. KESC is been privatized to suck the last drop of blood from peoples veins.
