Bill Clinton under fire for 'Muslim' comment

Former president has drawn ire for his speech at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia

Attracting criticism over comments made about Muslims is usually considered Donald Trump's forte.

However, former US president Bill Clinton, who is campaigning for his wife, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, has drawn ire for his speech at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Tuesday.



The 42nd US president delivered the keynote address, and said, "If you are a Muslim, and you love America and freedom and you hate terror, stay here and help us win and make the future together. We want you."

However, since then the former president has received some flak on Twitter, with many likening his remarks to that of Trump's and considering them as further reinforcing Muslims as a class apart in America.
