BAHAWALPUR: A four-year-old died on Monday after she fell off a ride at the Gulistan Safari Park in Chishtian and was hit by the fast-moving contraption. The family pardoned the park administration, however, the Chishtian assistance commissioner told the police to register a case against five people, including the owners of the park.

Later that night, officials of the district administration razed the rides and some of the trees at the park using tractor trollies and heavy machinery.

Saddar police said four-year-old Iman Fatima, a resident of Bhatta Colony, Chishtian, was visiting Gulistan Safari Park, a privately-owned park, with her aunt and uncle. She was on one of the joy rides and fell when it took off. She was hit by the machine and died before she could be treated. Her aunt and uncle said it was an accident. The girl’s family said they did not want to pursue a case against the park administration.

Saddar police, on directions of Chishtian Assistant Commissioner Arshad Mehmood Sidhoo, registered a case against Muhammad Aslam, who owns the park, his son Muhammad Shoaib, Park Manager Rana Muhammad Sadiq, and employees Muhammad Zubair and Muhammad Hayat.

The FIR was registered under Sections 322 and 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (causing death, disobeying an order promulgated by a public servant).
