KARACHI: The anti-terrorism courts’ (ATC) administrative judge extended on Tuesday the remand of five suspects allegedly involved in the killing of Abrar at Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society on the night of July 10.

The suspects, including Mirza Dilnawaz Baig and four policemen, Saeed Ahmed, Rashid Ali, Nadim Khan and Kaleemullah, were presented before the administrative judge at the expiry of their first (two-week) physical remand.

The investigating officer contended that the interrogation of the suspects was under way and sought more time.

The judge, accepting the investigator’s plea, allowed him to keep custody of the suspects for four more days and directed him to bring a progress report on the next hearing.

The case is registered under sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 (attempted murder), 114 (abetting a crime), 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code, read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Ferozabad police station.

The next hearing of the case is on July 29.
