Slain internet sensation Qandeel Baloch had committed to performing at the upcoming Lux Style Awards 2016 hours before she was strangled to death by her brother.
It has been revealed that LSA Talent Manager Maaz Ghazi was coordinating with the social media starlet.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Ghazi said he tried calling her several times on the evening of July 15 but she did not answer. “Then she called back around 9 pm and I told her that we want her to become a part of the show.”
Ghazi said Qandeel was set to perform in the opening act alongside singer-actor Ali Zafar. “It was not a dance or singing performance. It was a short humorous skit that we had prepared,” he added.
6 things to look forward to at LSA '16
He said they had then decided to also rope her in to sing at the event as well, considering Qandeel had recently released a new song. “She had agreed but the very next morning we heard about her death.”
LSA organiser Frieha Altaf was not available for a comment. LSA media manager Fareshteh Aslam could not be reached despite multiple attempts.
This is a special year for LSAs as 2016 marks 15 years of Pakistan's most prestigious award ceremony. Besides hosting, Ali Zafar will be performing on a song he has composed specifically for the event. Ayesha Omar is hosting the red carpet while Ahmed Ali Butt is also expected to make an appearance during one of the segments alongside Vasay Chaudhary.
