Renewable energy: SBP makes way for sustainable banking  

The SBP has also become an active partner with German Development Cooperation Agency

SIALKOT: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is holding a one-day awareness session on Green Banking and Refinance Scheme for renewable energy here on July 26 (Tuesday). According to the SBP sources, State Bank of Pakistan has stepped up measures for the promotion of sustainable banking as a tool to redress energy shortfall and climate change, the two key issues of Pakistan’s economy. In line with this vision, infrastructure, housing and SME finance department of the SBP has established a Green Bank Unit, as the SBP has recently revised refinance scheme for renewable energy. The SBP has also become an active partner with German Development Cooperation Agency for implementation of their renewable energy efficiency programme. The SBP has previously organised awareness sessions on Green Banking in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and Faisalabad.
