After Fawad Khan swept Deepika Padukone off her feet at this year's IIFA Awards, and the dashing duo took to the runway as showstoppers for Manish Malhotra, we've been waiting anxiously for the pair to share the silver screen together.
Finally, the Kapoor & Sons star is set to play the role of Deepika's husband in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati, Pinkvilla reported.

"Bhansali wants 200 days from all his lead actors, including Ranveer Singh and Deepika. Fawad has those days to spare. In between, he has Karan Johar’s production, but it should not be a problem as KJo and Bhansali share a good equation. So they will work it out. It’s too big an offer for Fawad to pass up," Pinkvilla quoted a source as saying.

While DP's alleged beau Ranveer Singh is all set to play the role of her obsessive lover Alauddin Khilji, the hunt for Padmavati's husband has been a tiresome one. Actors such as Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan were reportedly approached for the role, but nothing worked out, according to Pinkvilla.
