Murder and matrimony : Mother of three accused of killing husband

PAKPATTAN: A woman allegedly killed her husband with the help of her boyfriend and his companions at Chak Bedi on Saturday.

According to police officials, Azra Bibi married a laborer Umar Daraz, 12 years ago and bore three children. Daraz had been working in Lahore for the past two years and only returned home to his village for a few weeks every year.

Neighbours told the police that Azra Bibi had developed relations with a local villager Imran in the mean time and wished to marry him. Police suspect that Azra feared her husband’s reaction and that is why she and Imran decided to poison him. They believe that when Daraz returned home for a week, Azra and her boyfriend poisoned his food and fled the scene.

Neighbours told police that they discovered Daraz’s body after one of his children told them he was dead.

After the incident Azra Bibi allegedly eloped with Imran. The couple and their accomplices, identified as Jahangir and Qasim, fled the district. Police officials have taken Daraz’s body into custody and have launched an investigation into the incident. PPI
