Road network: ‘Rs25 billion will be spent on infrastructure’

BAHAWALPUR: Minister for Cooperatives Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar said on Friday the government would spend Rs25 billion on infrastructure as part of its medium-term development framework.

He made these remarks while visiting various construction sites in Halqa Baqirpur, Sahlan and Jhok Rahim Bux.

Channar said under this framework, Rs7 billion had been allocated for 2016-17, Rs8 billion for 2017-18 and Rs9 billion for 2018-19.

“This is an investment in a modern and efficient road network in the province,” he said. Channar said roads with a width of 20 feet would be widened to 25 feet.

“They will have the capacity to carry 800 vehicles per day,” he said.
