KARACHI: During a series of late night raids on Wednesday, the police arrested the son of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Abdul Qadir Khanzada, Tahir Khanzada, a councillor, Zeeshan Bashir Farooqi, and another worker, Asad, from their houses on charges of possessing illicit weapons.

The raids were conducted at around 11pm in Gulistan-e-Jauhar's blocks 15 and 17, during which the three men - Tahir, Zeeshan and Asad - were taken into custody.

Abdul Qadir, who is a former MNA, said that the policemen 'ransacked' his house, conducted a search and took away his son.

Later, Malir SSP Rao Anwar confirmed that the three men were in his custody. "The police have seized unlicensed weapons from their custody," he claimed. "Also, there are similar cases against them at Site Super Highway and Sacchal police stations."

It is not yet clear that how people arrested from Gulistan-e-Jauhar could be implicated in cases at other police stations.
